About time I did a journal update... I've posted a few more works since last time, including an old contest entry for the "Steampunk Superhero" category, which I never quite finished. The Prismat is for the Creature Of the Week contest at ConceptArt.com- I'm pretty happy with the lighting effects, but as usual I have no illusions about winning. It was a big growth step for me, so for that alone it was worthwhile.
I'm working now on a personal project, a scene from a story I've had in my head for nearly 15 years and can never seem to do anything with (great start, decent ending but absolutely no idea what happens in the middle of the story!). It marks the first time I've created a decent human figure, so it's a major breakthrough. The key this time was finding a reference photo with the right pose and lighting and placing it next to the canvas so I could could trace the outline at the sketch stage, color-pick from it and check my perspective and lighting. I'll probably finish it up by the end of the week and post it- it's definitely way beyond what I've been able to do up 'till now, and I'm curious to see if it was a fluke, or if I can do it again on the next one.
I also passed 1,000 pageviews recently, so let me say thanks again to everyone who passes through here- it's amazing how much each comment or favorite-ing keeps me pushing on. Keep the comments, suggestions and critiques coming!

My Indie Game experiment!
I've been busy lately working on a little side venture, a dieselpunk racing game I'm constructing in Unity. Here's a link to the blog , and here's a link to the game itself.
It's very rough right now, but you can at least fly around a bit and see the sights. I'll post some concept art up here soon.
So now I'm addicted to steampunk prop making
I made my first steampunk costume for our local renfaire over the summer, I guess because my nerd street-cred was slipping. It turns out I really enjoyed putting the whole thing together, particularly making the pistol I wore. It also got a pretty warm reception here on DeviantArt, with a few people asking if it was for sale.
So I've decided to put a bunch of weapons together, with an eye on setting up an Etsy store when I build up a bit of an inventory. So far I've been having a great time, and it's been fun making three-dimensional art for a change.
I'm old, and I don't get the Pony thing.
Now stay off my lawn!
Devious Journal Entry
Having proven conclusively that I'm a mediocre artist, I've decided to establish my credentials as a very mediocre writer! Towards that goal, I've submitted a pilot script and show concept to Amazon Studios, for their Kids' show category.
You can download it here: please be as vicious as you can in your feedback so I can make it stronger.
